Hi everyone. My name is Abigail. Along with Tsitsi and Unity who you will be hearing from with updates, we are coming to you on behalf of Itai Chipinda’s family to ask for help for our dearest friend Peggy, Itai’s wife. Our hearts are shattered. Just a few days ago, Peggy, a cardiac nurse for many years, was full of life — laughing, talking, and sharing dreams with us. Today, she is lying in a hospital bed, in a coma, fighting for her life after a cardiac arrest while asleep on 8/27/25 at around 1:00 am in the morning. Her husband Itai woke to her experiencing respiratory distress and after failing to rouse her, he started CPR until emergency services arrived and assisted. She was transported to and is currently receiving critical care at a local hospital in Texas. It’s been 3 days, but the situation is still dire. She is in a critical condition, in a coma, struggling with significant swelling in her brain and the outcome is uncertain. This sudden and devastating medical emergency has turned the Chipinda’s world upside down. The days ahead are filled with so much uncertainty, but certainly hope, and faith in the medical team and a miracle from God up above. If you know Peggy, you know she is a beautiful soul whose light and love she brings everywhere she goes. She is the kind of person who never hesitated to help a friend in need, and always made people laugh even on their darkest days. She is a devoted wife to Itai and mother to 2 beautifuls girls Claire and Mwaita. It feels impossible to believe this has happened to someone so full of life, kindness and joy. Many friends have reached out on how to support this family. As you can imagine, the medical expenses for intensive care, specialized treatments, and ongoing support will be overwhelming. On top of this, the family will face additional costs such as time off work, school, travel, and preparing for the long road to recovery and rehabilitation that we faithfully believe lies ahead.
